I develop programmes of study that aim to support, challenge and enthuse emerging artists to find and develop their own languages and forms of expression through exposure to a wide range of practices, theories, methodologies, and experiences.
I work to create a learning environment in which high expectations are matched with a supportive atmosphere where risk taking is encouraged. I like to encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility for their own learning as autonomous practitioners.
In 15 years of professional practice in visual and performing arts, I have developed an extensive body of work, experience, and knowledge, through practice based research, solo and collaborative projects, and continuing professional development. This core knowledge of my subject area informs a pedagogic approach that recognises Kolb’s cycle of experiential learning as the DNA of a creative process driven by practice-based, process-led enquiry.
